I’ve been battling something lately and maybe you have too.
How do I know what God has called me to do? I hear so many people say THEY know. But do they? Because 3 months ago Sally said she was called to work this job and know she is called to work a different one...by the Lord of course, and it’s always been her calling.
I’m not judging y’all. I’m really not, but I’m just saying we need to think twice before we go tellin’ everyone that our calling is something we aren’t quite sure what it is.
Or maybe we see that others are clear on their calling and we think that we would like to do that too so we have a little thing that I call copy cat calling. It’s where you want something that someone else has to be your calling so you copy it to make it your own. You know, you play God. How’s that working out?
Listen, I get it, it’s a clear STRUGGLE to hear from God what your purpose, your calling in this world is.
Even though I feel like I’ve always known somewhat the calling God has placed on my life, it doesn’t make it any easier.
You see, I’ve always known I’ve been destined to do great things. It’s not cocky, it’s confident in Christ. I’ve done a lot of things, in a lot of different fields, but they all have ONE central theme.
Encouraging others and giving value to their life. Whether that is speaking to women, teaching them fitness tips, leading them in bible study, speaking on mental health awareness, marriage experiences, business mentorship, expressing my faith, I KNOW that I have the ability to encourage and influence others.
You see there are two key days of your life...
-the day you were made
-the day you knew what you were made for
With that...I HAVE to encourage YOU and tell YOU that you are not what someone else was called to do. You are YOU. Don’t miss your calling pretending to be someone else’s.
Hear me closely... I used to feel guilty over working, taking care of my body, going back to school, working in the ministry, or whatever else because I thought it took away from others in my life. But that is a disservice to myself and the Creator who made me.
There are hundreds of ways to lose yourself, but the easiest of them all is refusing to acknowledge who you TRULY are in the first place.
YOU. Your calling in this place.
This takes me back to King David & Solomon in the bible. David desired to give God his best, if you read the bible you can agree with that. Although David had good intentions, God directed him to pass the responsibility of building the temple to his son, Solomon. Can you believe it? Like really, God? It was MY idea, you planted the idea in my brain, and you won't allow me to be the one to carry it through? Come on now!
Then King David rose to his feet and said: "Hear me, my brothers and my people. I had it in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the Lord and for the footstool of our God, and I made preparations for building. 1 Chronicles 28:2 ESV
God's word ignites a fire inside us to dream BIG for God. Just like God had a special plan for David and Solomon, He has one for each of us too.
But we have to carry out OUR OWN purpose, for some it's having a vision that starts in our hearts, and for others, it's carrying that vision into fruition.
Girls, the Real you—is not an accident.
Those dreams you have for yourself are not silly! Those passions are placed upon your heart for a reason. They are the road map to your purpose, your calling!
Don’t you dare sit this one out. Don’t let someone else’s opinion of you determine your worth.
Don’t miss out on the chance to live the life of incredible possibility in front of you.
It’s time you become exactly who Our Creator has called you to be.
You have to stop waiting for someone else to live your life for you. You have to stop copycat calling everyone else’s dreams.
There is no easy way out of this. You have a God-given strength and ability just like I do, and yours won’t be the same as mine. That’s the beauty of it.
Arise to the challenge before you and be the REAL you, push yourself to do the hard things God had called you to do.
